Project Overview:

Transportation of cargo can sometimes be a challenging task. This is especially true when it comes to the transportation of dangerous goods. Caustic soda is a term commonly unfamiliar to those who have yet to work with industrial chemicals. However, this hazardous material is a substance used to manufacture dozens of household products (such as body soap, detergents and drain cleaners).

Our customer is one of the largest gold mining companies in the world with a globally diverse, world-class portfolio of operations and projects. In search of a transport and logistics partner who could provide exceptional support in performing the delicate tasks involved with the supply chain of Caustic Soda or other dangerous cargo, we had all the experience and credentials this customer was looking for.

Our customer’s business challenges:

Our customer required the transportation of Caustic Soda Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) safely from Dar es Salaam to their mine site.

This operation comprised of multiple elements:

  1. Ensuring the goods are suitably packed to prevent damage from occurring in transit or storage
  2. Ensuring the goods are packed and transported per all applicable Laws, Policies, regulations, industry codes and any safety or environmental requirements

Additionally, the project was highly complex due to the need for special permits and the Technical Challenges associated with handling, transporting and storing hazardous material.
